MERCANTIL COMMERCEBANK NAMES JOSE DE LA TORRE III VICE PRESIDENT, BRANCH Sales and services MANAGER FOR ITS NEW LANTANA ROAD-WEST BANKING CENTER

Lantana, FL - June 10, 2009

Mercantil Commercebank, one of the largest privately held banks in South Florida, has named Jose de la Torre III Vice President, Branch Sales and Service Manager of its Lantana Road-West branch, the bank’s first branch in Palm Beach County, located at 6272
Lantana Road.

The 1,700 square branch, located within the Pinewood Square Shopping Center, offers a full array of services including retail, commercial, domestic, and international banking products designed
to meet the financial needs of existing and potential customers in
the area.

“The new Lantana Road-West branch is a key step in our South Florida reach,” said Ed Holden, EVP Manager of Personal and Commercial Banking. “Jose de la Torre’s professional track record and financial services experience in the region makes him the ideal candidate for this position.”

As Vice President, Branch Sales and Service Manager, Jose de la Torre will be responsible for the growth of the Lantana Office consumer and commercial deposits, and loan portfolios. He will also be in charge of planning and executing business development efforts in the region.
Prior to joining Mercantil Commercebank, he served in an executive capacity for several high profile financial institutions. His experience includes operations supervisor, licensed client manager over ten banking centers, management and development of commercial operations and profit centers in Lake Worth and Western Boynton Beach respectively.

Jose de la Torre earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration and a minor in International Business from the University of Rhode Island. He is involved with numerous civic, charitable, and professional organizations and currently serves as President of Lake Worth Chapter of Business Networking International; President of the Delray Beach Chapter of Business Networking International; Member of the Lantana Chamber of Commerce; Member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County; Alternate Board Member on the City of Boynton Education and Youth Advisory Board; and is a translator for the Red Cross of Palm Beach County. He volunteers regularly at the Devost Blum YMCA.
Born in Mount Vernon, New York, he has been a Florida resident for the past 10 years.
