MERCANTIL COMMERCEBANK PROMOTES SHALAKO WIENER TO VICE PRESIDENT, INTERNATIONAL CORPORATE BANKING

Miami, FL - July 15, 2008

Mercantil Commercebank N.A., one of South Florida’s largest privately held banks, has promoted Shalako Wiener to Vice President, International Corporate Banking.  He will be based in the Bank’s Corporate Headquarters at 220 Alhambra Circle, Coral Gables.

With more than 8 years of experience in Corporate Banking, Business Law and International Trade Finance, Shalako Wiener will be responsible for advancing Mercantil Commercebank’s growth strategy in its International Corporate Division in Latin America. The International Corporate Banking Division works with corporations with annual revenues in excess of USD 250 Million, that are based abroad or in their countries of origin conducting business internationally.

Shalako Weiner will oversee the Unit’s international sector, which includes the Americas and the Caribbean with affiliate banks in Curacao, Grand Cayman, Panama, Switzerland, Venezuela; and representative offices in Bogota, Sao Paulo, Lima, London, and Mexico.

Shalako Wiener began his career with Mercantil Commercebank as a Portfolio Manager in the Corporate Credit Administration Division, in charge of business portfolios for international and domestic corporations. Prior to joining Mercantil Commercebank, he was Director of Operations for a local company and Legal Consultant for an international business.

Shalako Wiener earned his law degree from the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Caracas, Venezuela, a Master’s Degree in Business Law at the Université Paris XI, and a Master’s Degree in Business at HEC Business School in Paris, France.
