Mercantil Commercebank DONATES COMPUTERS TO THE CARMELITE SISTERS

Coral Gables, FL - January 31, 2008 - 2007

Mercantil Commercebank, N.A. recently donated computers to the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart. The sisters will use these computers for educational purposes in South Florida at Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School and the Church of the Little Flower religious educational programs. Both programs will serve hundreds of students from local schools each year.

“We are pleased to support the communities we serve,” said Guillermo Villar, President and CEO of Mercantil Commercebank.  “The Carmelite Sisters are committed to providing education and support to the less fortunate, and we are pleased to help their cause.”

Mercantil Commercebank has been helping the community for over 25 years, reaching out to serve unprivileged children and their families. Its community outreach programs have included a five-year plan with the Florida Department of Children and Families to donate computers in foster homes in Miami-Dade County, called “Connecting to Foster Kids,” and a donation of computers to more than 30 Habitat for Humanity families throughout South Florida.

“We are grateful to Mercantil Commercebank for their generous contribution,” said Sister Ines of the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart. “The computers will be useful in preparing lesson plans and more.”

The Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart is a religious community with headquarters in Los Angeles, California that carries out a variety of religious and social works which significantly serve the needs of people across the United States.
