Mercantil Commercebank N.A., is a nationally chartered financial institution, ranked among the largest privately held banks in South Florida. Headquartered in Coral Gables, the Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercantil Commercebank Holding Corp., registered under Section 3(a)(1) of the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956, which in turn is owned by Mercantil Servicios Financieros, the largest international financial institution in Venezuela, with more than 80 years of experience in banking, and offices in the Americas and Europe.

Founded in 1979 with one branch in North Miami, Mercantil Commercebank set out to serve the financial needs of its neighboring communities. In 1987, with $20 million in assets, the Bank was acquired by the Mercantil Organization, beginning a relentless commitment to provide quality financial services and personalized attention to domestic and international customers.

In 1990, Mercantil Commercebank purchased two banks from the FDIC and opened a Banking Center in West Hialeah, increasing its branch network to five, and its assets to nearly $200 million. Five years later, Mercantil Commercebank branched out of Miami-Dade County into Broward County with the opening of its Pompano Beach Banking Center. In 1997, the Bank reached $500 million in assets, with a strong capital base and a broad product offering, to support its geographical and financial expansion in the years ahead.

Today, after more than 25 years of sustained growth, Mercantil Commercebank has assets of nearly $6 billion. Its growing office network includes thirteen Banking Centers in South Florida, one in Manhattan, New York, one in Houston, Texas, and a Loan Production Office in Weston, Florida. The Bank offers a wide variety of domestic, international, personal, commercial, and corporate banking services, including investment, trust, and estate planning through its subsidiaries, Mercantil Commercebank Investment Services, and Mercantil Commercebank Trust Company, N.A.
